What Does it Mean?

Many of us are aware that ancient civilizations were great astronomers; only recently surpassed in knowledge.

The Mayans had a very precise understanding of our solar system's cycles and had an amazing ability to map out time. They refined and created several calendars based on the stars and other cycles within the earth; least of which was the Long Count calendar. Said to be non-repeating, the Long Count Calendar is broken down into five subsets of base-20 day lengths (the second subset, however, rolls over after 18). There seems to be some debate as to whether or not the fifth subset starts over after 13 cycles, thus, escorting us into a new "age". Either way, we would, currently, be in the 13th of the 13 cycles, which ends on December 21, 2012 - but what does that mean? (More can be found here: Wikipedia - Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar)

With this site, we have gathered many explanations and beliefs, spiritual and scientific, surrounding 2012. From John Major Jenkins proposing how the Long Count Calendar may come from the Mayans mapping out when the sun crosses the galactic equator in conjunction with the ecliptic in Sagittarius, to Jose Arguelles' Harmonic Convergence, a spiritual awakening brought about by these celestial events. You will also find information on other scientific and spiritual theories, such as the I-Ching or The Book of Revelations or how other cultures, such as the Hindu's or certain Native American tribes have very coinciding information concerning 2012. Even people like Nostradamus or Edgar Cayse have been said to have (loosely) fortold events surrounding 2012.

Do not misunderstand this site, we do not prophecy the end, an awakening or whatever you can apply to this event (our guess is as good as yours) - by their very nature, calendars begin back at "1"; there very much will probably be a December 22nd, 2012. We offer this information for your perusal, enjoyment or whatever you may be able to ascertain from it. We also offer alternative ways of looking at this particular subject. The best way to make a decision is to be well informed. If, at the very least, this site helped you understand how to survive disaster, then, we hope, you will, at least, be prepared.

Please enjoy this site with an open mind and an unspiteful attitude. Oh yeah, and it wouldn't hurt if you visited a few of our sponsors and affiliates. After all, life being what it is, finds a way to go on and we still need to eat. So, in advance, we thank you for your support!
